Florida drivers are likely aware that driving under the influence of drugs or alcohol is against the law and can result in serious charges. Sometimes, drivers may not be thinking clearly because they have something else on their mind. Recently, a young man was excited to be out with friends celebrating his birthday when an accident left him facing charges of DUI

Police allege that the Florida man had been enjoying an evening with friends to celebrate his 27th birthday. At some point in the evening, the young man and his friend decided to leave the party. The driver was involved in an accident when his car went off the road.

No other vehicles were involved, according to reports. The man and his passenger were injured, but both are expected to recover. When police arrived at the scene, they determined that they had evidence to suggest that alcohol was a contributing factor to the crash.

When a driver is charged with DUI, he or she may fear automatically being viewed as guilty in the eyes of the law. Though a DUI is a serious charge, an accusation is not an indication of guilt. Many people choose to seek the aid of an experienced attorney. An attorney may be able to help a defendant present his or her side of the story in a court of law and ensure that all accusations must be proved by the prosecution. Being charged with a crime is not the end of the world, and allowing an attorney to assist with a person’s defense can ensure a fair court experience.
